Supporting integrated and holistic community development for poor and marginalized children and their families as a way of helping fulfill basic human needs, Adopt a Village will provide communities in developing countries with access to:

The importance of the Adopt a Village campaign lies in its focus on servicing rural areas often neglected by government bodies and other charities/development organizations. Emphasis is further placed on building and operating schools in areas where there is a high incidence of child labor, exploitation of children and minimal opportunities for female children. The campaign is truly participatory in that local communities are actively consulted and involved in the design and implementation of the various campaign components.

The Adopt a Village campaign is currently operating in China, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and the tsunami affected areas of Sri Lanka.

Free the Children, in partnership with Aidmatrix (an organization leveraging technology and partnerships to address the problems of hunger, poverty, disease and disaster), have launched this website; the Adopt a Village Virtual Drive. Please click on the 4 icons above to explore various opportunities and learn more about how you can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and their communities in the developing world.

Please note that for the health care program, every one dollar donated allows Free the Children to provide ten dollars worth of medical supplies.

All prices on the donation drive are in US dollars.

Free the Children is the largest network of children helping children through education in the world, having impacted the lives of over one million children in 45 countries. It was founded in 1995 by international child rights advocate Craig Kielburger when he was 12 years old. The organization has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the past three years.

A receipt will be provided for all donations $10 or greater, allowing you to claim a tax deduction.
